Let’s chat midi dresses.
A style of dress so versatile that it’s wearable all year round, and I’ve started this summer by wearing midi dresses as much as possible. My wardrobe is pretty full of them at the moment and I’m already trying to figure out how I can use them in the transition from summer to autumn.
The last few weeks has seen me wear them for work, and over the weekend, to relax and for special occassions. I find this style suits me a lot more than mini dresses now that I’m a little older. Don’t get me wrong, I love a short dress with trainers, but these days I feel a lot more comfortable in a midi length – stylish and casual without running the risk of flashing my bum!
I shot these images near where I live with Chloe – who I had no idea was from the same area. Small world right? All my favourites with the same hobby have moved away and although I get to snap with Megan when she’s home, it’s been a god send having another friend to help out with outfit shots.
This may be another post for another time, and although I’ve got a whole bunch of amazing friends, it’s nice knowing that they get the bloggin’ life!

I spotted this particular midi dress on ASOS a few weeks ago (it’s actually New Look). Naturally, I popped it in my saved section, and every time (read: every day) I would pop on the site, this dress would be calling out to me. It really gave me Sleeper style dress vibes, and because their collection is just way out of my budget, I knew this high street version would satisfy my appetite for something similar just fine.
The shirred top half and square neck is my favourite – I find this shape so flattering and this year, I’ve unintentionally bought QUITE a few dresses and tops in the same style.
I won’t lie, I was expecting the bottom to be less fitted than it actually is, but I think that has more to do with my body shape and less about the way the dress has been made. Regardless, it’s a gorgeous piece that I find is the perfect option for day to night – stick on a pair of barely there heels with a clutch and you’re good to go for a nice dinner or a wedding if you’re an evening guest!
The high street is chocka with various colours, patterns and necklines when it comes to midi dress this year, which is why I’ve taken the liberty of picking out my favourites for you to cast your eyes over. I can’t keep this to myself, and if one ends up in your bag… well, sometimes you just have to treat yourself.
