Workwear. Office workwear to be precise. I’ve had a love/hate relationship with the stuff. It’s been rocky for a good 5 years now. When I started my first office job, I really had no idea what I was doing style wise. With a tiny baby, and at a complete loss with what to wear (not to mention the fact that we were pretty much able to wear whatever we wanted, so that made it hard to gauge what was appropriate, so I wore those little a-line dresses that you got in Primark for a fiver. I loved them.), I stuck to the same sort of thing, and now as a fully fledged woman (lol), I feel like I’m pretty confident with how I dress for work.
As I got promotions, I felt like I needed to dress more appropriately. So came the trousers, and the heels, and now, I feel like this is the kind of look I’m going for, to make myself feel confident and able to do the job.
Dress for the job you want, not the job you have.
This was something I was told years ago, and truth be told, it’s really stuck with me. I know my old manager always said that applying her favourite lipstick made her feel fierce and like she had her shit together, and I have to say for me, a pair of good heels and the Super(wo)man pose are two things that really make me feel like I’ve got my shit together!

I’m super weird when it comes to associating my wardrobe with certain things though. Is anyone like this?! I feel really out of place if I wear things I would normally wear to work, on the weekends, for example. Unless it’s a casual day, I am more than happy to stretch to my Vans and mom jeans – but I’ve just got a thing with the office attire. In my head it’s associated with working, having to be professional, and in my down time, dressing a little more comfortably is my thing.

Anyway, I’ve rambled on enough about stuff – onto the outfit!
I’ve had these checked trousers for a good few months and they’ve served me well. With a flattering paper-bag style waist, and the little turn up on the bottom, I feel like these are probably my favourite fit, and add a little white t-shirt the way I have here to make it smart/casj and basic. But good basic!
Throw on my little beret for the morning (I still feel like I look like a bit of a wanker, but I’m going to roll with it), and my favourite black heels from ASOS, we are good to go for the day. I bloody love this outfit.
