Quite another heavy photo post, but it’s necessary! I received my first Glossybox this month. After receiving an email saying my order had been shipped, I got it very promptly the following Monday morning which is fab. Having read a lot of reviews for the Glossybox, I knew the box was usually a pale pink colour with the Glossybox emblem on the front, however due to Valentine’s Day just around the corner, they’ve stepped up the mark and this month (as you can see) transformed the box to a beautiful shocking pink.
Upon opening you’re greeted with a beautifully wrapped package, completed with a little bow, heart shaped sticker and the faintest aroma of lavender which a great touch (nice job Glossybox!)!
The first item I picked out of the box was the Eyeko ‘Skinny Eyeliner’ in the colour ‘plum’. Having swatched this, it’s more of a brown shade, with a creamy finish. It’s not as pigmented as I expected but I personally liked it, and discovered it would be perfect for lining your eyelid and smudging it to create a soft smokey effect.
Next was the ‘Weleda One Step Cleanser & Toner’. I’ve not yet tried out the product, but after having a horrible experience with a cleanser and toner beforehand (leaving me with a massive rash on my face), I’ve been very wary of trying anything again! However, I will perhaps give it to my flatmate to try out, as her skin isn’t as sensitive as mine. After inspecting the packaging and the actual product though, I found it had a very clinical feel to it. I think it may be because of the glass bottle and milky coloured product.
Next was the ‘Murad Hybrids Skin Perfecting Primer’. I used this underneath my base for my makeup for the ZOMGBloggerBash. The packaging is a lovely black and this sample size is perfect for travelling with. The product is flesh coloured which worried me at first, however blended into my skin nicely and evened out my skin as promised. I’d have to say this is my favourite product in the Glossybox.
From the photos above, you can the next photo I picked out was the ‘First Aid Beauty Gentle Body Wash’. It claims to be good for sensitive skin, which is something I unfortunately have! I’ve not yet tried this product out, but will be doing so soon. I get a sense of a strange vintage feel from the packaging which I enjoy!
Last but by certainly no means least, is the ‘Orly Nail Lacquer’ in ‘Ruby’. Its a small little sample bottle, but is a great size for travel or if you’re on the go. Swatching this, the polish glided onto the nail with no problems, and after two layers, the finish was a beautiful deep red shade with a slight sheen. I’m not one to go for bright reds, so this was another great little product in the box that I’ll get much use from.
All in all, I’m pleased with my first Glossybox. The little rock sweet was a cute little momento as well, which I liked!
