Ola again – I’m back with a little review for you today.
Remember when I popped down to London the weekend for my birthday? And I was lucky enough to go on a little dinner date with the wonderful girls at LabelPR and Proactiv+? Let’s step back a little bit. If you’ve been reading my blog for the last few months, you’ll know that I’ve been using Proactiv+ religiously, every single day for the past, 6 months now?
With the help of the wonderful team at Proactiv+ and our dermatologist Laura, the little team of bloggers including Skai, Irena and Lottie have been on a wonderful journey in the pursuit of clear, perfect skin. It’s been tough, but I know I’m personally really reaping the rewards of sticking to a routine with my skincare and I’m feeling 100% more confident than I did before (I’ll be popping up my Skin Diaries post in a couple of weeks, and a review of my favourite product from the range, so keep an eye out).
With that being said, our catch up dinner was at Bob Bob Ricard.
I’d heard a lot about it before, and I’ve always seen so much about that super famous ‘PRESS FOR CHAMPAGNE’ button in the Private Dining Room. We were actually lucky enough to be put in that room, with champagne coming at us whenever the glasses were only half full and let me tell you… the food was divine. The room is modelled on the Royal Dining Carriage, with the lighting changing as the evening went on, and we started to receive your food. I loved the intimate vibe, and felt relaxed knowing were in safe hands to enjoy the night.
For me, all of this was just so fun. I never normally get to go out on the town and enjoy wonderful service and food like this. Life is full of work and kids and being tired, so getting the chance to wake up in a hotel, in London and just… enjoy the weekend, was bliss.
STARTER: Lobster, crab and shrimp pelmeni
I am a huge fan of seafood. Coming from a seaside town, it’s something that I’ve always enjoyed so this was the natural choice! It does come cold, so if that’s not your thing I would avoid. The lobster was quite a prominent flavour that stood out for me, and the hint of salmon (check the menu for what’s included!) which I wasn’t overly keen on, but I enjoyed it nonetheless because it was beautifully presented and the salty lobster taste was just lovely. I’d give the starter a 7.5/10, purely because of the salmon flavours.
MAIN: Lobster macaroni cheese
OK guys – I have to go as far as this, and admit that this is quite possibly the richest main I’ve ever tried. It’s incredibly cheesy, and they are not stingy with the amount of lobster that is included in the dish. With that being said, it is also the best macaroni cheese I’ve ever tasted too. It was BEAUTIFUL. I am a huge mac’n’cheese fan, and this succeeded every expectation – I know, big statement!
The dish was just the right size, and had plenty of seafood pieces to justify being a lobster main. The cheese flavours were overwhelmingly good, but this might be a bit too much for someone who isn’t overly keen on cheese (does this type of person exist…?!), but I loved it so much.
Of course, I can’t comment on the other mains, but I would absolutely give the lobster macaroni cheese a 9/10 – definitely try it if you ever go.
DESSERT: BBR Signature Chocolate Glory
I have to say, by this point I was FULL, so my opinion on the dessert was definitely a little bit skewed. I’m generally not a chocolate dessert kind of girl, but I was intrigued to see what the fuss was all about concerning the chocolate glory.I did love the way it was presented, and the fact that the waiters were so helpful to allow us to get Boomerangs and photos of the dessert opening up (they know the score, they get it!)! I have to say the chocolate was a little too dark for me, I’m very much a milk chocolate girl, so that was a little disappointing. I think I’m certainly in the minority for this though, as a lot of the girls enjoyed theirs, my mouth just can’t handle the dark flavour!
For that reason, I’d give the dessert a 6/10, but I would absolutely love to try the crème brulée next time because it definitely sounds like more my thing! I think I was worried about having FOMO so went with the majority, damn!
All in all, I was super impressed with the quality of the food and the service. The staff weren’t overwhelming in wanting to know if we were constantly OK, but they knew exactly when they were needed for a champagne top up! I’d have to say, for what it is, the price point is just right, particularly for the main I ordered, the quality was amazing and you weren’t left feeling disappointed.
Of course, the company was amazing. I really enjoyed just being able to sit down and catch up with everyone. It’s great when you have such a good relationship with a brand and PR company, and it feels like it’s more of a friendship than just business, and that’s what this was for me. It’d been a good few months since I was last able to let the girls know how everything was, and I can’t wait for the next meet.
Have you ever looked into booking a special night at Bob Bob Ricard? Let me know what you thought to it if you had!
It’s situated right in the middle of Soho, so the perfect starting point to a good night in London.
This was a catch up meal with the team at LabelPR/Proactiv+ – No compensation was given for this review, I just thought it would be nice to give you my personal opinion on what I thought to the service at the restaurant!
