Hello!
I have a thing for simplicity. But you guys know that already – quick, stylish and easy. With trends falling out of our ears this February and March, we’re seeing a lot of our favourites, and for me, there are three that I just cannot get out of my head.
Trend 1: The all black look – who doesn’t love that? Much like the new DS 3, my attention to detail in an all black outfit is something that I always make a lot of effort with. They wanted to develop a car that embodied style and an effortless sort of cool, very parallel to what Parisian fashion is like. So here, I went with comfortable black boots, my trusted black ASOS jeans and a gorgeous padded leather jacket from Zara to reflect that vibe.
Iris Apfel, the ambassador of this new car, is someone who is amazing when it comes to throwing on an outfit to make it look amazing and when she said “style is attitude, attitude, attitude,” I literally couldn’t think of anything better than this look.
I know it’s super basic, but that’s the beauty of it. I’m all about comfort and this is one trend that I know will always look effortless yet chic. I’ve seen this crop up a lot recently, particularly from the Burberry and Julien Macdonald shows, the ‘peekaboo black’ trend is going to be everywhere, and we’ve already seen Self Portrait absolutely smash it. I incorporated this within the look in the top; with a gorgeous string weave design on the back to reveal a sexy and stylish detail.
OUTFIT SUGGESTION: Why not try Zara‘s faux leather trousers with this Topshop body for a super sexy peekaboo, all black outfit? Add these amazing Zara boots for good measure…
Trend 2: Waist tie tops – A look that can accentuate the best of your curves and ASOS have some kimono style tops with this trend in mind. Here, I went for a grey toned top, with my jeans and my AMAZING Gianvito Rossi dupes from Zara, which are gorgeous and comfortable in equal measure.
I saw this look in the Topshop shows, with contrasting belts that made the outfits pop, as well as in the House of Holland shows. Now Henry Holland’s style is definitely far more out there, but the premise of the look certainly stood out to me. For a more Spring/Summer look, I envisage styling this type of top in white, with blue kick flares or blush culottes – Again, not as out there as Iris, but a mix of materials that she would be proud of, I think… “I just mix and put things together, the way my spirit moves me,” which is exactly what style should be. Again, this is simple. Easy. A staple, if you will.
OUTFIT SUGGESTION: Pair the white version of this top (ASOS) with super bright culottes from Zara for the perfect S/S look.
Trend 3: The white shirt – Now, I love a white shirt. I have PLENTY, particularly my gorgeous cotton number from Ralph Lauren. But with that, I wanted something that made my outfit pop, and was a little more spring. So that’s where this Boohoo beauty came into play. Blue, oversized, with cool pocket detail on the front and a slight batwing sleeve.
Inspired by the Margaret Howell and Topshop Unique shows, albeit those being a lot more tailored, my take on this is a lot more casual; pairing it with my three staples – the leather jacket, the beanie and the Converse. When I incorporate these into an outfit, I’m guaranteed an effortless, yet totally thrown together look. It’s an everyday outfit that I would instantly pick out of my wardrobe, and surely that’s what you’d like from your clothes?
OUTFIT SUGGESTION: For the every day outfit, grab this white shirt from Topshop and pair with your favourite jeans. To stay on trend, grab your slip on Vans, Converse, Superstars or Stan Smiths to finish the look off.
